The Genomics Core Facility (GCF)
The Genomics Core Facility (GCF) at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) provides service and support for the research at the university and other associated institutions and organizations. The core facility has an Applied Biosystems 3730xl DNA Analyzer for performing sequencing and fragment analysis; an Applied Biosystems 7900HT instrument for real-time PCR, qPCR and Taqman assay analysis; and the Illumina system, which consists of their GoldenGate SNP genotyping, DirectHyb Gene Expression, Infinium II SNP Genotyping, Solexa GAii sequencing, and BeadXpress SNP genotyping platforms. The facility also utilizes multiple liquid handling robotic instruments from TECAN and Hamilton to assist with the high-throughput setup and sample processing of projects. The facility staff has extensive knowledge and experience with the different instrumentation and analysis systems, which allow for flexibility and adaptability during project planning and implementation.
